This one 18-month old baby repeatedly threw a spool of thread out of their crib and then pulled it back by the thread on the spool. For Freud the only obvious explanation for this was that it symbolized the painful disappearance of the baby’s mother and her eventual soothing return.

I’ll have like ten of what Freud is having

That baby barely had object permanence and it was already moving on to symbolic performance art? Fucking prodigy right there.

I mused this a few days ago, before I saw the (must watch) Guardian video of NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden, where he specifically confirms it, at 7:10.

What exactly is Insurrectionary Anarchism? I have a kind of idea that it is the belief in constant war against the state, so you are just constantly doing destructive shit.

Am I correct in this?

It seems kind of like anarchism that’s half way to straw man anarchism.  One of the recurring aspects of it in every description I’ve seen is an opposition to large, lasting organization, in favor of small, temporary affinity groups.  They also seem to have a somewhat individualistic concept of continuous rebellion that seems to border on lifestylism.

Well that sounds shit.

Well, I mean, it would probably be a lot of fun, but it is a totally shit way of changing the world.

Indeed.  I mean, most of their concepts have a place in revolutionary thought, but they also seem to lack any theoretical basis or foresight.  They also seem to be focused on class struggle in a very basic, literal, and immediate way and have no real thoughts on reorganizing production and distribution of goods.

private property is not the same thing as personal possessions

private property is not the same thing as personal possessions

the abolition of private property means that the resources and machinery that a community needs in order to function are owned by the community as a whole

the abolition of private property does not mean you need to share your t-shirt with the whole neighbourhood

no we don’t hate woman *wearing a cannibal corpse shirt* we LOVE teh wimmenz

Cannibal Corpse is really not that representative of metal.  They’re not even representative of a lot of extreme metal.

OK but no. There are a lot of bands that are like cc and even if their weren’t there are a lot of metal head dudebros who love cc and just because not all metal is like that doesn’t discount from the popularity and shows the subcultures feelings towards women. Its not OK to defend metal when misogyny is a huge problem in the culture.

lol really because a shitload of those “kill and fuck women’s dead bodies” bands were pretty popular in my time in the scene

not to mention all the racism in the scene too, and the violent hatred you got if you wanted to stay away from those bands or were critical of them

like wow you can find death metal bands that aren’t like cc and hey there are a lot but that doesn’t somehow not make cc one of the most popular death metal bands period that inspired a lot of the same kind of nasty fucking bullshit that is on every single fucking level of the scene and makes it an extremely unsafe space for women to be in, especially women of color

The brutal death scene does tend suck terribly on the whole.  But other parts of metal are quite different.

Okay, you do have a point.  Really, my core problem is presenting CC as typical when it’s really the worst.  It’s hard to come up with something that’s actually representative of metal, but CC definitely isn’t it.  Also, CC is the most mainstream death metal band ever, calling it representative of the subculture’s attitude towards women is like saying Bad Religion and The Offspring are representative of punk’s liberal politics.

see, in spanish the word for “genre” and the word for “gender” is the same: “género”. if you live in mexico and someone asks you what gender you are, you can be whatever i’m comfortable with. i’m a boy, or a girl. i’m a crime noir with a bit of spicy romance. i’m post-punk electronic music. i have trascended human perceptions of gender and am now a being of pure art

I’m all kinds of fantasy <3 xd
